Here we are at the time; once again, many people strive to achieve the goals they have set for the New Year. Every year the same thing happens. The goals that people give themselves generally follow the same lines: “I want to lose weight”, “I quit”, “I want to do more exercise”, etc… Journals and magazines are so packed full of articles explaining how to accomplish these feats.
Although these standard resolutions you look good and healthy, they make you focus on the negative aspects of your life, that is to say, essentially, what you should not do: smoking, eating poorly, being lazy, etc…
The problem for me is that they cause people to think negatively and feel guilty. Especially when February comes, and then they realize that they were not able to turn their good intentions. With this negative thought, they went straight to failure.
I would suggest something different. Let us not dwell on New Year’s resolutions that disappear in February, and focus on something a little more original: alternative plans.
It leads to substantive results and allows us to be happier. It is as if our bodies told us: “I do not need these negative things over in my life.”
My suggestion to you is that this year we only focus on positive things. Instead of dwelling on everything you want to get rid of this New Year, let us focus on the positive things that we want in our lives. Let us focus on our dreams and try to make it a reality in our lives.
Most people do not spend much time on their dreams. They are caught in the rat race of life and surrender to the light thoughts. I suggest you focus on a more spiritual way of thinking. Take the time to think about what we really want in life, and focus on goals that will bring us closer to our dreams.
Yes, even when following your dreams, you have to set goals. Otherwise, you will never be able to accomplish. Do not take a pious wish; put a little realism behind your thoughts. The secret to achieving your dreams is to divide your goal into small steps, asking: “What must I do to achieve this goal?”
This week, we drove from Hamburg to Munich, to see our new apartment because my boyfriend found a new job. The road is very long, if you drive fast and push your limits (what most people prefer), you can make the journey in eight hours. But if you do not want to stress, you must take the time to take breaks and stretch. The trip ends up taking between ten and twelve hours, depending on traffic. Thus, you will be relaxed at the end of the trip. Although tired, but relaxed.
Think about your dream destination. They can not be around the corner, most dreams are not. But if you be patient, then, at your pace, you reach the end of the journey.
The problem is that most people run toward the goals they think they can perform much faster, pushing their limits. When we encounter problems that make us slow down, we end up being frustrated and often give up.
If we were able to relax and think clearly when we meet an obstacle to our dreams, we would be able to identify alternative routes to our destination. A visit does not mean a failure, and blocked a road does not mean that we should give up and forget our destination.
We can achieve our goals we relaxing, persevering, and being willing to find alternatives to our situation. We do not need to drive like crazy to reach our destination. Life is not the highway!
